Mark Lancaster Presents $2,000 to Green Homes Challenge

On March 8, 2012 Mark Lancaster presented the Duffey-Nairn household of Frederick with $2,000 in energy efficiency retrofit services. The Duffey-Nairn's were one of 50 households recently recognized by the Board of County Commissioners that achieved Power Saver Certification through the Frederick County Green Homes Challenge. The Green Homes Challenge is an initiative of the Office of Sustainability and Environmental Resources.

The Power Saver Challenge helps residents move from energy awareness to action. The program emphasizes home energy audits, energy-saving planning, and home improvement actions and behaviors focused on energy conservation and efficiency. Wide ranging improvements include air sealing, insulating, installing water conservation devices, regulating thermostats, installing energy-efficient lighting, air drying laundry and purchasing Energy Star rated appliances, among others.

Mark Lancaster serves as the Chairman of the Frederick County Sustainability Commission.
