The Founder: Mark Lancaster, CGP (Certified Green Professional)

While attending college, Mark spent his time remodeling and renovating homes, gaining valuable hands-on experience. This demanding work fueled his passion for homebuilding, leaving him with a strong sense of achievement. It didn’t take long for him to realize that home construction was more than just a job—it was his chosen career.

With a degree in business administration from Mount Saint Mary’s College, Mark offers a distinctive business perspective to LANCASTER CRAFTSMEN BUILDERS INC. His background in residential remodeling and historic renovation allows him to deeply understand every professional trade involved in construction, ensuring smooth and efficient project execution.

An Innovator and Leader

Mark’s unwavering commitment to superior craftsmanship and thoughtful design has earned him the prestigious title of Frederick County Builder of the Year—twice, in 1996 and 2004. His active involvement in the building community speaks to his dedication.

He served as President of the Frederick County Building Industry Association on three occasions (1997, 2005, and 2018), and his influence extends to a national level, where he served as a national director for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) from 2004 to 2006.

Giving Back to the Community

Mark’s commitment to improving his community goes beyond his work at LANCASTER CRAFTSMEN BUILDERS INC. In 1987, he founded the Western Maryland Remodelers Council as a division of the Frederick County Building Industry Association (FCBIA).

He is also the originator (and president from 1988 to 1996) of the Frederick County Housing Trust, an organization that—through donations of labor and materials from the local building industry—built a new home for a deserving family in a single weekend.

Mark served on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County and was its President from 2017-2018. He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Frederick  since 2008 and served as its President from July 2019 – June 2020. Mark was recently (2025) appointed as a Board member to the Frederick Arts Council.
